Industrial misting fans to cool large spaces

An industrial misting fan cools the air without refrigerant gas, without fixed installation, and with minimal consumption: just water and a standard power outlet. Blizzcool’s BSM160L and BSM380L models are designed to run continuously in areas of up to 250 m²: warehouses with open doors, outdoor construction sites, hospitality terraces, greenhouses, livestock facilities, and events where conventional air conditioning can’t reach or isn’t viable.

What is an industrial misting fan?

An industrial misting fan is a unit that sprays water at high pressure into ultra-fine microdroplets that evaporate on contact with hot air, lowering the temperature through evaporative cooling. Unlike air conditioning, it doesn’t use a compressor or refrigerant gas, works in open or semi-open spaces, and cools the perceived temperature of a large area by several degrees with very low consumption.
It’s worth clarifying a point that causes confusion: Blizzcool’s industrial misting is designed to cool and refresh through evaporation, not to disinfect or apply chemical products. They are different uses and different equipment, even though they share the name “misting fan.”

When is it the best solution against the heat?

Not all heat problems have the same solution. An industrial misting fan provides its maximum performance in specific situations that are worth knowing before choosing equipment:

  • Spaces that cannot be closed. Industrial warehouses with open doors, logistics warehouses with constant goods traffic, or hospitality terraces lose all the cold from an air conditioner in seconds. Micro-misting acts directly on the circulating air and maintains a comfortable temperature even with natural ventilation.
  • Large spaces with variable occupancy. A sporting event, a festival, or a fair can concentrate hundreds of people in one area for hours and then become empty the next. Portable industrial misting fans can be relocated in minutes and scale with actual needs, without over-dimensioning the installation.
  • Environments where electricity is a limited resource. On construction sites, in agricultural facilities, or at outdoor events, connecting several split units isn’t always possible. A high-flow industrial misting fan consumes a fraction of the energy of equivalent air conditioning equipment, operating with a simple standard plug.
  • Enclosed spaces where the cool air must be maintained. If your warehouse operates with doors closed and you need to lower the temperature of the entire volume, sometimes the most efficient solution isn’t misting but an industrial evaporative cooler, which moves large volumes of fresh air continuously. We’ll advise you on which one best fits your case.
  • Industries with temperature and humidity requirements. In greenhouses, wineries, ripening rooms, or production lines where relative humidity directly impacts the product, the misting system allows you to adjust environmental conditions precisely without complex fixed installations.

What sets a good industrial misting fan apart from the rest?

The market is full of equipment that promises to cool but ends up getting everything wet. The difference lies in three technical factors that determine if an industrial misting fan actually works or becomes a problem:

Droplet size. Above 15-20 microns, the droplet does not evaporate in the air and falls on people and surfaces. Blizzcool misting fans generate droplets below 10 microns, which guarantees complete evaporation even on low-temperature days.

System pressure. A low-pressure pump produces large, irregular droplets. Blizzcool’s high-pressure misting system ensures a fine, uniform mist that is distributed evenly across the entire coverage area.

Real autonomy. A small tank forces frequent stops that interrupt work or events. The BSM160L and BSM380L models, with 160 and 380-liter tanks respectively, are designed to run continuously for full days without refills.

Sectors and applications of the industrial misting fan

Blizzcool industrial misting fans work in very different environments, but in all of them, they solve the same problem: maintaining thermal conditions that allow people to work, produce, or enjoy themselves normally.

  • Industrial warehouses and logistics: Reduces thermal stress in production shifts without interfering with machinery, electrical circuits, or metal shelving.
  • Hospitality and catering: Keeps terraces occupied in summer, increasing table turnover without the need for fixed structures or building permits.
  • Sporting and cultural events: Covers spectator areas, benches, warm-up areas, and VIP zones with immediate, mobile cooling.
  • Sports halls and campuses: Cools facilities without a centralized system, with coverage of up to 250 m² per unit.
  • Greenhouses and agriculture: Regulates temperature and relative humidity during critical heat periods, protecting crops without waterlogging.
  • Livestock: Reduces animal thermal stress, with a direct impact on milk, meat, and egg production during summer months.
  • Construction sites: Immediate cooling in outdoor work areas, without installation and with total freedom of movement.
  • Markets, fairs, and exhibitions: Improves the time the public spends in the space and the perception of comfort at the event.

Frequently asked questions about industrial misting fans

Can an industrial misting fan be used indoors?

Yes, as long as the space has some ventilation. In completely closed spaces without air renewal, relative humidity can build up. In warehouses with open doors, warehouses with cross ventilation, or semi-open spaces, performance is optimal.

The goal is different. A humidifier seeks to increase relative humidity in closed spaces. An industrial misting fan seeks to cool the environment through evaporation, with a higher flow rate and focused on large, open spaces where humidification is a side effect, not the end goal.

It depends on the model, the outside temperature, and the ventilation of the space. The BSM160L is ideal for areas up to 150 m²; the BSM380L for up to 250 m² under intensive use conditions.

Minimal. The main task is the periodic cleaning of the misting nozzles to avoid lime scale buildup. Without a compressor or gas circuit, it does not require specialized technical reviews or maintenance contracts.

Since it has no compressor, electricity consumption is limited to the fan motor and the water pump, resulting in much lower consumption than any air conditioning equipment of equivalent power. It can run on a standard plug without the need for specific electrical installation.

Its performance decreases when relative humidity exceeds 70-75%, as the air has less capacity to absorb more vapor. In the Mediterranean and continental Spanish climate, where the hottest days are usually also the driest, the industrial misting fan’s performance is at its peak precisely when it is most needed.
